Cargando...The organizational process for the Gran Retto International Open Water Crossing and the fourth stop of the Panam Aquatics Open Water Swimming Series, hosted in Varadero, has entered its final stage with the arrival in Cuba of executives and staff from the Mexican company Gran Retto.
With Havanatur as the host agency and traveling aboard Viva Aerobús, once the delegation arrived, Luis Mario Villarreal, director of Gran Retto, highlighted that “these are days of great excitement, beginning tomorrow with the preliminary preparations for the events, which will take place from the 11th to the 13th of this month.”
He expressed his happiness that “on this occasion in Varadero we have the fourth stop of the Pan-American open water circuit, promoted by Panam Aquatics,” which will be held for the first time in Cuba.
“Speed, endurance, and action are what open water swimming offers in one of the Caribbean’s most iconic settings,” posted Panam Aquatics on its Facebook profile, praising the attractions of Varadero, Cuba’s main beach resort.
Villarreal Vélez himself also praised the ideal conditions of the Matanzas beach for events of this kind: “It is a fairly calm and quiet sea, with little wave activity, compared to the Pacific beaches where we hold various competitions in my country.”
Since its first edition in 2022, the Gran Retto Cuba Open Water Crossing has become an excellent opportunity to enjoy the benefits of this crystal-clear beach, and hopefully a pretext to continue promoting tourism in markets such as the Caribbean.
With activities at distances of 750 meters, 1.5 kilometers, 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km, this fifth crossing of Gran Retto invites all swimmers, clubs, sports schools, and the general public to participate in a tournament supported by Cubadeportes and the Ministry of Tourism.
