Cubanacán, a 100% Cuban commercial enterprise, officially celebrates its 38th anniversary this August 5th, reaffirming its place as a preferred leisure destination in Cuba for visitors who choose its facilities.
Jesús Lauzurique Suárez, Cubanacán’s delegate in Varadero, highlighted the dedication of the men and women who make tourism possible through this company. He emphasized that the best gift is reaching this milestone with several of its accommodations ranked among the top-rated offerings in the country’s premier beach resort.
Lauzurique extended congratulations to the management and staff of the prestigious Playa Azul, as well as to the team at the Velasco-Louvre complex—the only Cubanacán property operating in the city of Matanzas, which was declared an urban tourist destination in October 2018.
He noted that this is an excellent day to “strengthen the commitment to continue improving the quality of service—a challenge we face with the support of our leaders and workers.”
From the Sol Palmeras hotel, Cuba’s first mixed-ownership hotel, Arnaldo Díaz Hiedra, general secretary of the union bureau, paid tribute to the founders and to those who “over these 38 years have made Cubanacán a family, a successful corporation, always at the forefront of the hotel industry, serving as a school and guide for tourism development in the nation.”
On his Facebook profile, Díaz affirmed: “We continue striving for efficiency and quality in the services we provide, confident that these 38 years have not aged us, because we are a business group that rejuvenates daily through each of its teams.”
Hotels such as Royalton Hicacos, Iberostar Selection Varadero, Sol Palmeras, Blau Varadero, Meliá Las Antillas, Meliá Las Américas, and Meliá Varadero are among the establishments that bring prestige to Cubanacán in the Varadero tourist destination.
With more than 115 properties across the country and hosting nearly 40% of all travelers arriving on the island, Cubanacán operates in partnership with renowned international chains such as Meliá, Blau, Iberostar, and Blue Diamond.

Founded as an international marketing agency and tourism corporation, Cubanacán was created to promote, market, and manage hotel facilities of various types and categories both in Cuba and abroad.

Although it was first introduced to international tour operators in May 1987 during the Tourism Convention held in Varadero, its official registration took place on August 5th of that same year.
