«This is another scenario in which we have demonstrated the spirit of unity, rebellion and struggle of the Cuban Revolution,» he stressed.

He reiterated that the CTC‘s decision is in line with the call to celebrate the date throughout the country with rallies in squares, towns and workplaces that do not demand the use of mass transportation.

«May Day will be a moment to reaffirm the unrestricted support of the immense majority of the people for their social project and to denounce the criminal nature of the blockade, the main obstacle to Cuba’s economic and social development,» said the top Cuban trade union leader.

He stated that some 200,000 workers and their families, residents of the municipalities of Plaza, Habana Vieja, Centro Habana, Cerro and the areas closest to Playa, will attend the central event for International Workers’ Day at the José Martí Anti-imperialist Tribune.

«There we will ratify that the Cuban working class will continue to pay particular attention to everything related to the recovery of the economy, efficiently taking advantage of the resources we have to increase the supply of goods and services as a way to rescue the purchasing power of wages and pensions,» he stressed.

Guilarte de Nacimiento, together with the member of the Central Committee of the Party and its first secretary in Havana, Liván Izquierdo Alonso, headed this Sunday a voluntary work called for May 1st in the Fontanar organoponic, belonging to the Metropolitan Agricultural and Livestock Enterprise of Havana.

The mobilization was part of a national day of volunteer work also dedicated to remembering the 63rd anniversary of the declaration of the Socialist Character of the Cuban Revolution.

On May 1, Cuba will also commemorate the 65th anniversary of the first workers’ parade held after the triumph of the Revolution.

At the end of the volunteer work, the secretary general of the CTC and the first secretary of the Party in Havana led a ceremony in which members of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution were recognized and a group of new militants received their respective Party and Young Communist League cards.
