«When a country, small as ours, takes upon its shoulders a task such as the one our people have taken upon themselves, they must always know what to do.  And it does not matter that we are small; if we act well, if we know what to do, we will come out winners, because those who are right and know how to carry out their reason, know how to fight for their reason, win!  And we can be sure that if we do what we have to do, we will be victorious, we will be winners.»

These words of our unforgettable Commander-in-Chief delivered on May 1, 1960, have an unparalleled validity at a time when workers are fighting a crucial battle, as stated in the Call of the CTC National Secretariat for the celebration of the activities for May Day and the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba:

«demanding the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the U.S. government against Cuba, intensified by the application of 243 measures imposed by the Trump administration and maintained by the current Biden administration; as well as demanding the removal of Cuba from the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism, facts that cause negative impacts on the welfare of the people, workers and their families.»

This will be a decisive day of workers for the dignity and creative resistance of the people, where unity is the strategic weapon to achieve the economic development that our country needs, having as a maxim the defense of the conquests achieved and defended by the Cuban trade union movement.

As Fidel said in 1960:

«(…) it only remains for me, on this May Day, to reaffirm that purpose, that purpose of continuing to fulfill our duty, in our posts, and to ask everyone to do the same.  To express our faith in the destiny of the homeland, our faith in the solidarity of the brotherly peoples of the Continent, for whom we are fighting, because they will learn from our experience, they will learn from our successes, and they will even learn from our mistakes.  And thus, we will be useful to our brother peoples in our successes and in our mistakes.  We have faith in the solidarity of those brotherly peoples and faith in the solidarity of all the peoples of the world».
