The Cuban Mission to the United Nations denounced that the measures adopted by the Government of the United States against its diplomats seek to provoke an escalation of tensions and damage the prestige of its representatives around the world.
The mission categorically rejected the unjustified expulsion of two Cuban diplomats from the US and the intensification of the policy of restriction of movement for Cuban officials accredited to the UN, in New York, and their families.

According to a press release issued by the Cuban delegation to the United Nations, these actions seek pretexts that will lead to the closure of respective embassies.

The text adds that the current US administration is seeking to justify the strengthening of the genocidal economic, financial and commercial blockade against the Cuban people, and obstruct the battle that the island is waging against it at the United Nations, during the 74th session of the General Assembly.

The US government intends to damage the prestige of Cuban revolutionary diplomacy, using the vulgar slander that Cuban diplomats carried out acts incompatible with their status, the statement emphasizes.

With these actions, Washington reinforces its hostile policy against the island, openly launching a provocative and interfering move against Cuba. The US continues to ignore the fact that the principles of Cuban diplomacy are not negotiable.

The new aggressions against the Cuban people, who the US has failed to break through 60 years of heroic resistance, are an act of revenge and impotence.

Cuba will not be intimidated, neither with these nor any other provocations, and will not renounce the struggle for its independence and sovereignty, the statement stressed. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
