Cuban Orchestra Los Van Van Kicks Off U.S. Tour

The legendary Cuban band Los Van Van will perform on Saturday at the Latin Music Festival in Miami, an event that will mark the beginning of the orchestra»s 2017 U.S. Tour. The band, also known as The Train of Cuban Music, founded by the bassist, arranger and composer Juan Formell, will perform at the Wastco Center of the University of Miami at 7:30 pm, local time.

 

The tour, running until August 27, includes a dozen concerts in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and New York, where the orchestra will promote some songs of its upcoming album, to be released this year.

During the tour, Mayito Rivera, a former member of the band, will accompany the orchestra, currently directed by Samuel Formell. Vanessa Formell, the daughter of late bassist Juan Formell, will sing with the band for the first time as the female voice of the group.

With more than 30 records since 1969, Los Van Van has won major awards, and has taken Cuban music to several countries. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
