Cuba Wakes Up With a New Academic Course

CAcursoescolar2The first deputy minister of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez declared to the press in the inauguration of the new academic course in the provincial meeting that Cuba woke up on September 1st, with all its schools open, uniforms, school materials with quality, and teachers.

After the end of the activity held at the elementary school Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias in the capital’s municipality of Boyeros, Diaz-Canel, also member of the Cuban Political Bureau highlighted this will be a better course with hopes of demands.

He said the challenge is in what we pretend to achieve in relation to integral learning of the students.

We have the purpose to have a different course, know the role of the school, the effort of the teaching staff, and find alternatives to have a more creative school for teachers and students.

Likewise, in respect to the cover he explained there are still some difficulties with teachers; nevertheless, we have been able to substitute them by methodologists, leaders from Education from different levels, as well as other alternatives.

In relation to the regulation to put into practice in this period, he said that school hours should take into consideration the academic calendar where teacher will be able to give good classes with the main objectives in each subject and also time, so the teachers can prepare themselves and students will have the possibility to have the educative influence by means of several cultural, vocational, sports and link with the local history of the community activities.

He commented there are at present a group of teachers in the classrooms trained in the pedagogical schools with a non-emergent program and, that is why, they should transmit values in a new dimension of elementary school.

In his speech, Diaz-Canel said the thoughts of Fidel and Raul Castro, Marti and Chavez have been present in the inauguration as well as the Cubans’ sensitiveness who have  condemned in protests the Gaza Strip genocide, and also against the subversive plans carried out by the US government against versus our youth.

Since daybreak, families living around this elementary school located at the outskirts of Havana city, gathered together with their children, young people and adolescents, above all around the elementary and high school to participate in the inauguration meeting of this academic course.

Elianis Cruz, graduated from the pedagogical school Fulgencio Oroz, in Havana addressed the audience in this political-cultural activity. She will start her life as teacher in this school.

“I will inculcate my students the interest to learn, educative habits and the love for work,” she said.

Pioneer Camila Noa read a proclamation of the Pioneers’ Organization Jose Marti, to condemn the Gaza Strip’s genocide where hundreds of children, young people and adolescents have been murdered and massacred.

“Peace and Freedom for Palestine. No to subversion to Cuban young people! This was the call of the organization.

In the meeting Airobis Padura, director of the school made a symbolic deliver of the school materials to Briana Santana, third grade student and a module to the retired and reincorporated teacher Agustina Caridad Montesino Perez.

The closing speech was by Darbelis Carracedo Aguilar, Boyeros’ municipality director of Education, who expressed the main challenge of this territory, is to eliminate the dissatisfactions of students, families and education workers in respect to the teaching-educative process.

Mercedes Lopez Acea, member of the political Bureau, deputy president of the Council of State and first secretary of the Communist Party of Havana; Olga Lidia Tapia Iglesias, from the Secretariat of the Central Committee and Ena Elsa Velazquez Cobiella, Minister of Education also attended this meeting among other guests.
