The fourth edition of the Bayamo Creativo Festival, dedicated to young people as protagonists of entrepreneurship and young art, is consolidating itself as a platform that unites tradition, gastronomy, and territorial development.

Beatriz Cedeño Armesto, director of the San Salvador Heritage Interpretation Center, emphasized that the event seeks “to showcase the best values of culture and gastronomy from the most authentic aspects of our roots, stimulating creativity to achieve greater development of cultural industries in interaction with other economic processes that allow territorial growth.”

The gathering, convened by the Office of the City Historian, also aims to join forces to declare Bayamo a Creative City in Gastronomy, a recognition granted by UNESCO.

In this regard, Cedeño Armesto highlighted that Cuban heritage cities display high values due to their history and culture, and the second town founded in the country is no exception. “Having a space for socialization and workshops that make it possible to visualize the presence of all these attributes shows that it is a living city that renews itself from the most authentic aspects of its heritage,” she affirmed.

Bayamo’s identity is strongly expressed in its gastronomy, which is rooted in centuries-old traditions and a universe of flavors passed down from generation to generation. This culinary richness, supported by local products and popular ingenuity, embodies much of the intangible heritage that the festival now defends and projects into the future.

The event brings together a wide group of sponsors, demonstrating the articulation between the cultural sector, institutions, and new economic actors. Alongside the Office of the Historian are institutions from the cultural sector, the Granma Culinary Association, the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), and ventures such as Espiral, Restaurante Manegua, MultiSerf, and the Association of Pedagogues in Granma.

The director of the Interpretation Center recalled that the first edition of the Festival had a great community reach and made it possible to highlight projects that were just beginning and that managed to consolidate over time. The third edition, meanwhile, succeeded in bringing together important gastronomic ventures that were already recognized in the city and increased the presence of cultural institutions such as the Council of Performing Arts. “Having so many collaborators present this time is possible precisely because of the results of the Festival from previous editions,” concluded Cedeño Armesto.
