The first meeting took place this Tuesday through video conference between the Agramontinos, the National Directorate of the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and as explained by Jenry Puentes Rodríguez, general secretary of the Provincial Committee of the CTC, allowed them «to update themselves in the contents of the new labor legislation, exchange criteria on its practical application and reaffirm the responsibility to ensure justice in each worker collective».

Likewise, with this exchange the legal culture of workers is raised to consolidate the defense of their rights and duties, and strengthen the union unity as a guarantee of compliance with the law, as specified by Puentes Rodríguez.

Then, this training will be extended to municipal leaders and each worker, to make way, in turn, for the elaboration of the General Guidelines, the collective bargaining process and the final approval of the collective labor agreements.

The selection, restructuring or completion of labor justice bodies will also be necessary.

The legislation unfolds several innovations that, as detailed by Camagüey union leaders, will improve care for workers both state and non-state. Therefore, it is advocated to increase unionization especially in the non-state sector so that they know about the possibilities offered by the law.
