The solidarity of British trade unions with Cuba and its people, in the face of the aggressive escalation by the United States government, was expressed during meetings in London with a delegation from the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC, in Spanish), led by its secretary general Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez.
The Cuban delegation is in the capital of the United Kingdom participating in the 158th Annual Congress of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), a federation of unions collectively representing more than 5 million members, the majority of unionized workers in England and Wales.
In this context, Colina Rodríguez exchanged greetings with Paul Nowak, secretary general of the TUC, who thanked Cuba for its presence and reaffirmed the British organization’s support for the Island.
In another activity, the CTC secretary general spoke with members of the delegation from the GMB Union of the United Kingdom, who reiterated their support for Cuba against the U.S. blockade, which this year has been intensified to unprecedented levels with an implacable energy siege, threats to investors, and sanctions against Cuban legal entities and individuals.
Likewise, delegates from the National Education Union attending the TUC congress expressed their solidarity, highlighting their active work in sending computers, supplies, and materials to schools in the Caribbean nation.
In these meetings, the CTC secretary general reaffirmed the Cuban people’s and workers’ firm determination never to yield, and to press ahead with the economic and social transformations included in the Government Program 2026 — aimed not only at resisting the fierce U.S. onslaught but also at continuing along the path toward a prosperous and sustainable socialism.
“Cuba is not alone!” rang out loud and clear in London.
