The loyalty of the labor movement to the legacy of the Historic Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, was reaffirmed by Santiago Badia González, member of the National Secretariat of the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC), during the 27th videoconference of the International Commission of the Workers’ Constituent Assembly and the Bolivarian Socialist Workers’ Central of Venezuela (CBST-CCP).
He highlighted what Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez, member of the Central Committee of the Party and secretary general of the CTC, stated in a panel held on August 10 during the opening session of the First International Colloquium dedicated to honoring Fidel on his centenary: that the Commander in Chief’s ideas are living principles and continue to guide the course of the union organization, as a transformative entity that calls workers together and defends their interests amid Cuba’s current challenges.
To representatives of various union and labor organizations participating in the videoconference, Badia González assured the support of the Cuban working class for the 176 economic and social transformations approved in June by the Extraordinary Plenum of the Party’s Central Committee and the Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of People’s Power, aimed at preserving the Revolution in the face of the brutal tightening of the U.S. blockade.
In this regard, Badia González noted that a process of training union leaders is underway in the country, since the measures reshape property relations, directly affecting the labor force; the socio-class structure, the role of the market and planning; the structure of the State, and the daily life of the population.
The member of the National Secretariat of the CTC affirmed that these measures embody the resilience and resistance of the people.
The 27th videoconference of the International Commission of the Workers’ Constituent Assembly and the Bolivarian Socialist Workers’ Central of Venezuela originated in Caracas and was led by Wills Rangel, president of the CBST-CCP, and its vice president Francisco Torrealba, both deputies to the National Assembly, as well as Gerdul Gutiérrez, international coordinator of the union organization.
