The Boquerón camping site, located in the mountainous municipality of Florencia, northwest of Cuba’s central province of Ciego de Ávila, will host excursions during the upcoming vacation season. It will not open lodging services for the general population due to transportation limitations and the country’s energy situation.
According to information published by Invasor newspaper, by journalist Félix Martínez Valdivia, the summer season will begin on the 27th of this month in that territory of beautiful landscapes, with the opening of activities at the Los Taínos recreational center.
Preparations are intensifying in the locality for traditional events such as the popular Horse Fair, scheduled every July.
Although far from the municipal center, the community pool in Las Pojas and the Los Limpios River remain attractive options, well received during vacation periods by Florencia residents and visitors from other places.
Given current limitations, members of the Municipal Recreation Commission agreed to strengthen activities in the four People’s Councils, led by workers from the Sports, Culture, Commerce, and Education departments, relying on the creativity of instructors and optimal use of recreational areas.
They also emphasized reinforcing cooperation among different organizations to ensure conditions in recreational centers, such as lifeguards in swimming areas and staff dedicated to cleaning after each activity.
Florencia captivates at first sight with its fascinating geography: hills, valleys, palm trees, caves, rivers, and other natural resources currently protected by the Turquino Plan and the Connecting Landscapes project, aimed at conserving mountain ecosystems and supported by the Global Environment Facility.
