Today we are taken by the hand into a context marked by strain. Between leaving or staying here, between the evocation that tries, almost unsuccessfully, to preserve some of the best human essences. Between the pain of surrendering to a painful ruin that socially distances and sinks us: the absence of values.
Perhaps this issue may be underestimated amid the storm of problems that slap us daily. However, without wanting to sound pessimistic, I remind you that the lack of values can lead to social and economic tensions that generate distrust and resentment, not to mention that it increases violence and conflicts due to lack of empathy.
In terms of leadership models to follow, the lack of respect and integrity negatively influences citizens’ behavior, generating a loss of cohesion that will hinder collaboration and teamwork.
Interpersonal relationships also suffer, becoming more superficial and conflictive, affecting quality of life.
Have you not felt, or rather suffered, stress, anxiety, or mental health problems in recent times? Yes, I know our reality is shocking and conspires to harm us, but isn’t it also because we are increasingly isolated and disconnected from one another? Yes, don’t doubt it—the absence of values is capable of generating psychological problems.
Surely, amid this flood of moral shortcomings, we have seen how children and young people reproduce patterns where ignoring courtesies and the most honest good becomes daily bread. Such standards perpetuate a negative cycle that could be much worse in the future.
Friend, the loss of values and education has devastating effects. Let’s not deny it—some have taken root with ease in our society. I reiterate, I don’t want to be taken as alarmist, but should we continue being victims of this dangerous environment and the destiny it sets for us?
Personally, I refuse to obey it. It is true that the culprits may be many and unreachable for us. Even so, we urgently need to find solutions that allow us to breathe and survive with a little more peace. Don’t you think we deserve it?
