Permanent Rejection of Cuban Workers to the Blockade

The energetic rejection of the criminal blockade with which imperialism has vainly tried to defeat the Revolution for more than 65 years was made evident at the conclusion of the voluntary and productive work day carried out at the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) Primero de Julio, in the capital municipality of Cerro, led by the Organizing Commission of the 22nd Congress of the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTCCentral de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC)The CTC (Workers' Central Union of Cuba) was founded on January 28, 1939 by Lázaro Peña under the name Confederación de Trabajadores de Cuba (Confederation of Cuban Workers)).

Its president, Osnay Miguel Colina Rodríguez, also a member of the Central Committee of the Party (PCC), in his speech at the rally convened for this purpose, reaffirmed the support of the Cuban working class for the country’s top leadership and for the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, whose centenary is celebrated this year.

He denounced that the economic, financial, and commercial siege by Washington—intensified as never before with a blockade imposed in 2026 on the island’s oil imports—is the main cause of the complex situation faced daily by the people and workers. He therefore urged everyone to work firmly and unitedly to mitigate its consequences.

Colina Rodríguez congratulated the José Martí Pioneer Organization (OPJM) on the 65th anniversary of its founding, and the Union of Young Communists (UJC) on its 64 years of existence.

These anniversaries were the focus of this weekend’s voluntary and productive work day across the country, convened by the CTCCentral de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC)The CTC (Workers' Central Union of Cuba) was founded on January 28, 1939 by Lázaro Peña under the name Confederación de Trabajadores de Cuba (Confederation of Cuban Workers) to boost prioritized plans, especially food production in urban, suburban, and family agriculture areas, which mobilized participants can mostly reach on foot or by alternative means of transport.

The tasks carried out at the UBPC Primero de Julio—recognized as a National Vanguard and a reference for other forms of agricultural production in Havana—brought together workers and young people from nearby entities in Cerro.

José Antonio Pérez Pérez, member of the Organizing Commission of the 22nd Congress of the CTC, noted that voluntary and productive work mobilizations will continue every weekend in April, also in tribute to important anniversaries such as the 65 years since Fidel proclaimed the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution and the victory over Yankee imperialism at Playa Girón. They are also part of Cuba’s activities to celebrate May 1st, International Workers’ Day.

He emphasized that these efforts will be carried out with the utmost austerity, including the participation of only the personnel strictly necessary to accomplish the planned tasks.
