Another Path for Guidance and Consultation

As the 22nd Congress of the CTCCentral de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC)The CTC (Workers' Central Union of Cuba) was founded on January 28, 1939 by Lázaro Peña under the name Confederación de Trabajadores de Cuba (Confederation of Cuban Workers) approaches, Trabajadores offers its readers this section aimed especially at guiding trade union leaders in each workplace, though it will also serve as a general source of consultation on the fundamental elements of union functioning, its actions, and its projection toward collectives.

This space has as its precedent the former section A section for the section, which for several years was maintained in our printed edition to contribute to the training and education of trade union leaders at all levels.

By resuming it, we have no doubt that, given its content, it will continue to be another avenue of guidance, information, and clarification for grassroots leaders, who are its main audience.

We aspire to respond to the various concerns and questions of our readers, in an economic and legal environment that has undergone important transformations, which demand increasingly well-prepared union leaders to represent their members and workers in general.

The first articles will be dedicated to addressing the content of each secretariat of the union executive and other aspects linked to grassroots structures.

In subsequent pieces, topics of the most diverse nature will be addressed, in line with the needs and requirements raised by leaders of union sections.

It is worth noting that the content will be presented in a didactic and concise manner, to facilitate understanding and retention of the core aspects.

For example, if an article analyzes the essential elements of a legal norm, the focus will not be on knowing word-for-word each of its clauses or resolutions, but rather on explaining the main issues that a grassroots leader must master in order to act accordingly.

How will the list of topics to be published be put together? It may be through proposals and requests from leaders of union sections and other bodies; through recommendations from members and readers in general. The doors of this page are open to all of them. Write to us—your suggestion will be very valuable.

Who will be able to write and send articles for the section? Members of the Organizing Committee of the 22nd Congress of the CTCCentral de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC)The CTC (Workers' Central Union of Cuba) was founded on January 28, 1939 by Lázaro Peña under the name Confederación de Trabajadores de Cuba (Confederation of Cuban Workers), department heads and officials of the institution, and other leaders at all levels of leadership, both from the CTC and from unions and ANIR. And when we say all bodies, we include, of course, the executive secretariats of union sections, since Trabajadores is interested in disseminating the best grassroots experiences, so that their publication plays a multiplying role.

With this proposal, we also open the possibility of preserving its content, which will also be accessible from our digital edition.

This will allow the creation of the Trade Union ABC, a permanent reference material that will serve union leaders to carry out analyses and evaluations in their regular meetings; to read during morning assemblies, when appropriate; or to use as guidance material through different communication channels, whether online or traditional bulletin boards.
