Innovators Will Showcase Solutions in Holguín Communities

Despite the energy crisis facing the country, Holguín’s innovative potential is set to be highlighted in neighborhoods and popular councils during this exhibition movement organized by the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR, in Spanish).

With a different structure but the same guiding principle, the event will take place in the province from the second half of March until April 30, as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of ANIR and the centenary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

According to information shared at the latest meeting of the Provincial Secretariat of the Cuban Workers’ Federation by Niurka Acosta Martínez, ANIR’s provincial president, the initiative emphasizes rational use of resources and avoiding fuel consumption, while still promoting best practices among work collectives, different management models, and the general population.

Priority will be given to solutions related to food production and cooking, the use of renewable energy sources, generating foreign currency, and saving energy carriers.

Equally important will be alternatives for producing materials needed for housing construction, developing and using natural and traditional medicine, and creating biogas, biodigesters, hydraulic rams for water pumping, and windmills.

Acosta Martínez noted that this edition also calls for direct participation from other organizations such as the Youth Technical Brigades, the National Association of Small Farmers, the Federation of Cuban Women, and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution.

The goal is to showcase and share as many inventive solutions as possible to help overcome the difficulties caused by the tightening of hostile measures from the United States government.
