“Confidence in success” is the commercial slogan of the Construction Materials Company in Ciego de Ávila (Avilmat). With the security and creativity of its management, this National Vanguard collective achieved another victory by recently holding the Innovation Forum.
The protagonists of this triumph were Raisel Morejón Moeck and Yudel Martín Morejón, who provided solutions for the 7-centimeter block-making machine at the Terracecar Basic Business Unit (UEB).
Equally awarded were Yosbani Camejo Rodríguez, Rafael Sosa Gómez, Liban Peña Sifontes, and Roberto Hernández Rodríguez, authors of the recovery of the hammer challenge used to break oversized stones after blasting with explosives in the quarries of Chambas municipality.
Also noteworthy was the recovery of the filtered panels of the compact washing group at the César Escalante plant, carried out by innovators Romérico del Toro Veloz and Roberto Cabrera Vázquez, workers at the Jiquí Quarry UEB.
The juries of the commissions that evaluated nearly 30 works granted the “Outstanding” category to the contributions of Olime Lugones Mayea, Jorge Torres Marciano, Alex Cordero, Alexander Rodríguez Pacheco, Alexander Noa Pimentel, Jorge Quesada Borges, and Ariel Benítez Pérez.
Other innovators received honorable mentions. Meanwhile, Pedro Luis González Hernández, Jorge Viamonte Mayea, and the Avilmat collective earned the “October 8” distinction, awarded by the National Bureau of the Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (Anir, in Spanish).
At the conclusion of the forum, Miguel Salazar Rodríguez, Deputy Delegate of Science, Technology, and Innovation at the territorial delegation of Citma in Ciego de Ávila, stated:
“This entity, aspiring to be recognized as an Innovative Enterprise of the Republic of Cuba, maintains a systematic movement for innovation within its labor collectives, with significant economic impacts that make it deserving, for its productive results, of the National Vanguard condition.”
Avilmat’s workers produce and market hollow concrete blocks of 10, 15, and 20 cm width—its leading product and quality award winner—along with coarse and fine aggregates, flooring elements, wood carpentry items, masonry mortars, gypsum, and other products.
