The Trade Union Movement in Fire Prevention

The Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTCCentral de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC)The CTC (Workers' Central Union of Cuba) was founded on January 28, 1939 by Lázaro Peña under the name Confederación de Trabajadores de Cuba (Confederation of Cuban Workers)) and the trade unions joined the National Day Against Fires, which began on May 5 throughout the country, with a plan of activities aimed at preventing fires in workplaces in all sectors.

In this regard, the Secretary General of the CTC, Ulises Guilarte De Nacimiento, pointed out that this is the ideal time to train and promote the culture of prevention of accidents at work among the members of the brigades.

He added that the program conceived by the trade union movement is part of the occupational health and safety management system for the integral care of people and material assets of each work group.

The member of the Political Bureau called for exercises to be carried out in the productive and service sectors in order to avoid human and economic losses in the country.
