Let’s watch out for words in the workplace

Who has not witnessed in the workplace a shouting «talk» between co-workers who disagree on some issue or a crude, almost disrespectful and often unmannerly response between themselves or between employees and bosses?

Thus, not a few would respond – we respond – to a view with which we do not agree, but we do not know what to say. Yes, even in the postmodern era of communication the worst habits of unhealthy communication are transferred.

And yes, it is easier to share praise with the person we have to work with on a daily basis, a round of applause for a friend’s achievements or a smile for good news as long as we are kind and considerate with those we choose to share our daily lives with in the work environment.

So, if we feel the need to be better, to maintain a well-functioning work environment, as well as our relationships, let’s take care of the way we express ourselves because a wrong word can distort the content of a conversation.

Let’s say what must be said clearly, let’s leave aside apathy and linguistic laziness, in our beautiful language there are more positive words than we can put across.

It is that nothing replaces the old word said directly to the face, with the calm, respect and frankness that we can diverge or agree on any subject. We all agree that in our workplaces we should value human beings beyond race, profession or trade.

In this task, union leaders from the grassroots play an essential role in the search for methods and best practices to meet the needs of those who expect solutions that allow them to carry on their working lives with the pride of identifying themselves and feeling that they contribute to society.
