Cuba’s Symphony Orchestra to perform works by Beethoven and Mozart

The National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba will give a concert in Havana on March 8 with works by renowned composers Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Felix Mendelssohn, according to organizers.
Scheduled for 11:00, local time, at its usual headquarters in the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater, the orchestra will be directed for the first time by the young Cuban director Jenny Padron.

The program includes ‘Adagio and fugue,’ by Mozart; ‘Hebrides Overture,’ by Mendelssohn, and ‘Symphony No. 2,’ by Beethoven.

Since its creation in the 1960s, the National Symphony Orchestra has been directed by important figures of orchestra music, including Soviet Aram Jachaturian, Mexican Blas Galindo and Brazilian Camargo Guarnieri. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
