Benny More’s Oldest Daughter to Receive Star of the Century Award

The oldest daughter of Cuban singer Benny More will receive the Star of the Century award from the Latin Institute of Music (ILM) to paradigmatic figures of art, like her father, the institution announced on Wednesday.
The grant’s announcement was disclosed months ago but the big question would be who would be the award’s recipient on behalf of the artist who died in 1963, at the young age of 44.

The ICM stated that the ceremony will take place at the Karl Marx Theater in Havana during the first weekend of September, to celebrate Benny More or Genius (barbaro in Spanish) of the rhythm’s 100 years of his birth.

The Mexican bronze prize, bathed in gold, with his name on it will be received by Hilda More, the artist’s oldest daughter.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, the ceremony will be chaired by the musician Edesio Alejandro, who is the ILM regional delegate for the Caribbean since January 2019.

The ILM was founded on February 21, 1921, in Mexico City and gathered the most influential artists at the continental level to expand culture and healthy entertainment. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
