Cuban puppeteers celebrate 25 years of Teatro de Las Estaciones

With the event entitled »25 years of puppets for all,» the Teatro de las Estaciones puppet company celebrated a successful 25 years since its founding in Matanzas, as a reference in Cuba in the art of puppetry.
The celebrations began on Monday in La Vitrina gallery, of the House of Scenic Memory (CME) of this western and 300-year-old city, with the exhibition ’25 Retratos por 25 Agostos’ (25 Portraits for 25 Augusts).

The celebration continued in the CME’s Abelardo Estorino Hall with the theoretical colloquium ‘Cuatro autores para cuatro estaciones’ (Four Authors for Four Seasons), in which playwrights Vivian Martinez Tabares, Yamina Gibert, Norge Espinosa and Marilyn Garbey attended as guest speakers.

The event is a wonderful and unrepeatable opportunity to celebrate the dreams of Ruben Dario Salazar, director of the company, and Zenen Calero, multi-award winning scenic designer of the company, Espinosa stated.

The specialist highlighted the work of actresses, actors, choreographers, designers, composers, and the rest of the company that is at the forefront of puppetry in Cuba.

After the event, the book ’25 miradas a Las Estaciones’ (25 Views on Las Estaciones), a collection of reviews, articles and essays about the work of the company, published by Ediciones Matanzas, was launched by poet and Director of the publishing house, Alfredo Zaldivar. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
