Venezuela, Cuba Strengthen Relations Despite US Meddling

Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza assured on Tuesday that Venezuela and Cuba are strengthening their cooperation relations and respect for sovereignty, despite the meddling actions and economic suffocation imposed by the United States.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is currently in Havana to participate in the 18th Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), expressed in Twitter his gratitude to the Cuban authorities for their warm welcome.

‘We thank the General of the Army, Raul Castro Ruz and the brother President @DiazCanelB, for welcoming us Monday. We extend to them the solidary greeting from President @NicolasMaduro. The relationship between Cuba and Venezuela strengthens as imperialism attacks us. We will win’, Arreaza wrote on the digital media.

For his part, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said that the regional integration bloc gathering will defend the principles of self-determination of the Venezuelan people.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry announced the meeting will explore new integration opportunities and reaffirm the commitment to unity, cooperation and solidarity among the member nations in the face of the current situation that Washington intends to impose on the region.

The body held in Havana, is staffed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of each member country. Its goal is to advise the Presidential Council of this integrationist platform on strategic issues and to present it with proposals on international policy issues.

Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Venezuela are part of ALBA-TCP, a mechanism that defends the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace adopted at the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Summit held in Havana in January 2014.
