FITCuba 2019 Opens with Honors to Spain

The 39th International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2019) opened on Tuesday and it is dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Havana, while Spain is the guest of honor.


The Spanish delegation is headed by the minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Maria Reyes, who on Monday afternoon condemned the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, the latest measure to tighten the US blockade of Cuba.

In Spain we are activating several mechanisms to defend our entities here, we will implement all measures that will allow guaranteeing investments, in fact efforts are being made with the World Trade Organization, Reyes noted.

Spain is Cuba’s ninth major tourist-sending market, according to Cuban authorities, and it confirms its intention to strengthen business with Cuba by attending the fair with two major groups like Iberia and Iberostar.

In Cuba, 20 international hotel chains operate, including 10 from Spain, like Iberostar and Melia, each of which has more than 25 years of experience in the country.

Other corporations have started up operations in Cuba, such as Barcelo, Globalia, Sercotel, NH, Blau and Roc.

More than 2,000 accreditations were granted to delegates from 40 countries to participate in the fair, which will take place until May 11 at the San Carlos de la Cabaña exhibition area. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
