Russia and Cuba Review Strengthening Bilateral Ties


The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Senate, Konstantin Kosachov, and Cuban First Deputy Foreign Minister Marcelino Medina Gonzalez are reviewing the prospects to strengthen bilateral ties in Moscow on Friday.
On Thursday, the Cuban diplomat met at the venue of the State Duma (Russian lower house) with the first vice president of that legislative body and of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Ivan Melnikov.

During the fraternal meeting, the two parties reviewed the current state of parliamentary relations between both countries.

Melnikov referred to the cherished ties of friendship between his party and the Communist Party of Cuba, and the Cuban people’s heroic battle against the criminal blockade imposed by the United States.

On behalf of the Cuban people and government Deputy Foreign Minister Medina expressed gratitude for Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s speech at the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly and his condemnation of the US blockade of Cuba.

After Thursday’s meeting, the Cuban official was received by the president of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Guennady Ziuganov, with whom he held a fraternal meeting and verified the great state of relations between the two countries’ political organizations.

On Thursday, Medina also met with the staff of the Cuban Embassy in Moscow. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
