Worldwide Activists Back up Cuba in International Meeting


With more than 1,000 labor activists all over the world, began Wednesday at Havana Convention Center, the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba.
Representatives from 241 organizations of 66 countries speak out to ratify its back up to the Caribbean nation through the claim to put an end to the blockade imposed by the United States since almost 60 years.

In addition, they demand the devolution of the territory illegally occupied by a North American navy base in the eastern province of Guantanamo.

During the opening, Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Cuba Workers Union and Ana Teresita Gonzalez, Vice Minister of Foreign Ministry, reaffirmed the support of Cuba to countries like Venezuela, Brazil, Syria and Nicaragua, as well as causes like the Palestinian and Saharan people.

Gonzalez also deepened the international relations of Cuba, with particular emphasis in the links with US under Donald Trump’s administration.

The event, which will close in the afternoon, usually holds a day after the International Workers Day, where every year most of the invited delegates walk together the Cuban people at the Revolution Square Jose Marti, in Havana. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
