Cuban Minister of Economy and Planning receives his Vietnamese counterpart

Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a vice president of the Council of Ministers and minister of Economy and Planning, received the Minister of Finance of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Dinh Tien Dung, on an official visit to Cuba this Thursday, August 24. Dung is heading a large delegation composed of representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the business sector of this sister nation, with the aim of strengthening and increasing cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam.

During the meeting, Cabrisas stressed the importance of the historic ties between the two countries and reported on the key agreements of the 7th Party Congress in the economic sphere, as well as economic results of the first half of the year.

Both ministers welcomed the progress made in exchanging experiences and negotiating joint investment projects.

Minister Dinh Tien Dung referred to the developments in the ministry he heads, and the close relations maintained with the Ministry of Finance and Prices of Cuba through permanent exchanges over the last ten years. He also informed of the donation of infocommunications equipment to support training and working contacts.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Cuba, Nguyen Trung Thanh, and Ministry of Finance officials.

Representing Cuba were the Minister of Finance and Prices, Lina Olinda Pedraza Rodríguez; the Director General for Organization of said Ministry, Lourdes Garrido Álvarez; and Vilma Sánchez Sempé, director of Trade Policy with Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment.
