Cuban President attends Political-Cultural Gala on Occasion of Anniversaries of UJC and Jose Marti Pioneer Organization

Cuban President Raul Castro assisted on Tuesday in Havana a political-cultural gala on the occasion of the 55th and 56th anniversaries of the Young Communist League (UJC) and the Jose Marti Pioneer Organization (OPJM) respectively.

The Karl Marx Theater was the site of the main birthday celebration, with activities that have been held for several days by the so-called «new pines» (new generation) with actions, reflection and commitment.

The theater was packed of youth; today and of other epoch, that of the Moncada, Granma yacht, Sierra Maestra Mountains and the plains, Bay of Pigs and so many unforgettable pages in history; eternal rebel youths like Fidel, Raul and like the Second Secretary of the Cuban Communist League, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura all present in the commemoration.

This gala included pianist Roberto Carlos Rodriguez «Cucurucho» Valdes, Jovenes Clasicos del Son musical group, La Colmenita Childens Theater troupe and Aramis Padilla and Hector Gutierrez, accompanied by children singing country songs.

Others in the gala include, Buena Fe, Moncada and Casabe, which will soon begin a national tour called «Sumando Ideas» provoking others to sing and dance to the theme song of the anniversaries of the UJC and OPJM called «Gallo de Pelea». (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
