Cuba Rejects Israeli Threats Over Two-State Solution

Cuba has voiced today its concern at the United Nations over the negative impact of Israel’s aggressiveness on the two-state solution to the conflict with Palestine.

‘We are deeply concerned about the threats to the two-state solution, the only possible alternative to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, given by the Israeli policy of illegal settlements and its other colonization and aggression practices,’ warned the Cuban Ambassador here, Anayansi Rodríguez.

In her first speech to the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, in which she was elected as one of the vice presidents, the diplomat ratified Cuba’s energetic condemnation of Israel’s territory occupation.

She also insisted on calls to halt the construction of settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and to immediately, unconditionally and completely lift the cruel and unlawful blockade on the Gaza Strip.

We will continue to be at the side of the Palestinian people until they reach theirlegitimate aspirations, in particular, the establishment of an independent state, with pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital, in addition to its admission to full membership of the United Nations, she said.

Rodriguez called on the committee created in 1975 to support global and regional efforts aimed at bringing peace to the region. (Taken from Prensa Latina News Agency)
