Over recent years Cubana S.A. airlines has been expanding and modernizing facilities at Havana’s José Martí International Airport, in accordance with standard flight and operational security measures, and in fulfillment of Cuban aviation regulations, and norms and practices as recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in order to mange the flow of passengers who arrive to the country.
Following the evaluation process, French companies Bouygues Batiment International and Paris Aéroport have been selected to carry out these works at José Martí International Airport (including the San Antonio de los Baños Aerodrome) under a concession agreement. The first firm has vast construction experience in Cuba, while the latter is a prestigious administrative entity, which manages important airports in France and other countries.
The project includes the financing and realization of immediate actions to improve the quality of services, as well as medium and long-term investment works in line with estimated passenger growth rates.
Transport and infrastructure are strategic and priority aspects for Cuba’s economy and society. Alliances such as the aforementioned concession will be extended to other airports around the country. (Taken from en.granma.cu)
