His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, arrived in Cuba

His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, arrived at Havana this afternoon in an official visit from February 11 to February 14. (+ VIDEO)

Upon arrival, he was received by Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba as well as some members of the Cuban government. The Russian ambassador in Havana and representatives from the Russian Orthodox Church in Cuba were also present.

In his remarks, at José Martí International Airport, His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, expressed his desire of happiness and well-being for the Cuban people while highlighting the mutual friendship and solidarity ties between the two nations.

During his stay in Cuba, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia will hold official talks with Raul Castro Ruz, the President of the Councils of State and Ministers.

As announced, in a joint announcement of the Holy See and the Moscow Patriarchate, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Holiness Pope Francisco will hold a historic meeting on Friday February 12 in Havana,which will be followed by the signing of a joint statement.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church will also develop other activities in Havana such as a visit to the Special School Solidarity with Panama and the placingof some wreaths at the Cuban national hero Jose Marti monumentand the Soviet Internationalist Soldier memorial. (Cubaminrex)
