Central American and Caribbean Games will be held from November 14 to 30 in Veracruz, Mexico and after few days for the beginning, organizers ratify their optimism and trust in success.

On Nov. 1 and 2 they stared selling the tickets for the opening ceremony titled Fly Veracruz, with little information about it. It is known that the famous singer Ricky Martin will perform and that President Enrique Peña Nieto will not be because he will be visiting China and Australia from Nov. 7 to 17.

The Central-Caribbean torch started its crossing on Sunday, Nov.2. It will travel throughout Toluca, Puebla, Orizaba, Cordoba, Coatzacoalcos, Tuxpan, Poza Rica, Xalapa and Veracruz where it will arrive a day before the event will start.

The hosts and the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (ODECABE) have informed on the progressive deliver of the venues for competitions, and have asserted they are ready to receive more than 5, 000 athletes that will participate in this event.

The closing of the registrations demonstrated that about 40 Olympic medalists in London 2012, mainly Cubans, Mexicans and Colombians will participate. However, the lack of quorum forced the decision to suspend a dozen of tests in swimming, rhythmic gym, diving board, modern pentathlon, rowing, canoeing, shooting and roller skating.

The threats of the social manifestations and the boycott to the Games have intensified in the last weeks, above all, after the disappearance of the young people in the locality of Ayotzinapa. To neutralize that problem and several focuses of criminal actions that had happened, state and federal’s authorities coordinate the strengthening of the security mechanism which was previously planned.

Nevertheless, the most important event so far, is the official announcement that Mexico wishes to win with about 133 golden medals, 107 silver medals and 124 of bronze. Mario
Garcia de la Torre, head of the Aztec delegation informed the remarkable aspiration, qualified as difficult the fight against Cuba, but he argued that Veracruz and Colombia will be able to take from Cuba some of the medals.

The directive identified as key points the competitions in swimming, shooting, archery, racquetball, athletics, triathlon, canoeing and taekwondo, while he forecasted triumphs in football, basket (M), and baseball, this last one with a team of professionals with experience in the American Great Top and the small leagues.

Another interesting provocation by Veracruz, who hopes to win the third place above Colombia, a nation that, got ahead of Mexico four years ago in Mayaguez. Cuba has expressed its wish to retake the regional leadership, although without giving details of its forecast in medals. This way, bets are on the table and the fields will announce sentence. Will the Central American and Caribbean sports history change?
