Teresita Calls to Hold Hands in ´

Ronda para Teresita Fernández organizada en la Plaza San Frascisco de Asís

People did not know which protocol to follow, but they were convinced that Teresita Fernandez was enough reason to challenge the hot weather of that Sunday and the bus, so dozens of people arrived to San Francisco de Asis Square to share songs and laughs with the songwriter and singer teacher.

-I am very happy to be in this activity called by the Federation of University Students (FEU), said Fidel Diaz Castro, director of the cultural magazine El Caiman Barbudo.

All the people there started laughing and told him it was not the FEU who made the call; it was the people. People met there without calling them, and gifted Teresita Fernandez with a call to hold hands in circle and sing, as she used to do in her songs, to feel like children again.

In a message in Internet, people copied the lyrics of her songs and met there with them. They carried guitars and sang Lo feo and Pitusa and Eusebio, and they held hands to dance once and many times.

It was a magic and unusual morning, full of intimate poetry of the simple things, the way Teresita liked to do it. A morning of improvised minstrels, of holding hands in circle, of happy childhood, shared love, with a flower and nothing more.
