Cuba and Vietnam for More Commercial Relations

The economic and commercial relations between Vietnam and Cuba are at present increasing and consolidating, while paving new ways for technical-scientific, agriculture, fishing, communications, biotechnology, health, and tourism investment collaborations.

During the celebration of Vietnam’s Day at the XXXI International Fair of Havana 2013 (FIHAV 2013), Antonio Carricarte, vice minister of Foreign Commerce and Investment stressed this is always an opportunity to feel proud, because we know the effort the Vietnamese authorities do to attend the fair from so far away, what we sincerely appreciate.

Although we have a growing commerce with Vietnam, he noted, we are still far away from the level of the political relations between the two countries. So, events like this are today a way to promote other branches, beyond of what at present is the bilateral exchange in rice, coffee, drugs, and other products.

Carricarte announced they are working in joint business projects in tourism and energy, and made a call to Vietnamese businessmen to consider the posibilities of the Development Special Zone from Mariel Port have. And also thanked the Vietnamese collaboration in the production of food in eight provinces of Cuba especially rice.

The Vietnamese ambassador in Cuba, Truong Minh said the Fair is a good space to spread investment between the two countries and added there are many fields where we could work for, promote and have success like biotechnology, where there is not a massive presence of products.

There are 30 Vietnamese enterprises  participating in FIHAV 2013 with construction materials, food, barthroom fittings and electrical appliances among others.

An example of this is Thai Bin Company with a dozen branches including kitchen tools, textiles, sports equipment, vehicles’ spare parts, food, toys, shoes, cosmetics, among others as it was informed by Alicia Huynh, specialist from that coorporation.

This Company is established in Havana since 1998 and it is the first to export Vietnamese products to Cuba. It also has a technological sphere in roofs and elements for the internal devision of houses, as well as public and domestic lighting.
