Cuba, China for Greater Tourism Links
The visiting delegation referred to tourism plans on the island, such as preparations for the construction of a Chinese-Cuban hotel in Havana
Cuba and China have explored new ways to increase bilateral cooperation in tourism, an issue that centered a meeting between Cuban Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero and Chinese authorities.
Marrero told that the talks with Chinese Deputy Tourism Minister Zhu Shanzhong ratified the intention to boost investments in the sector and Cuba as tourism destination.
The Chinese official, he said, largely explained a strategic plan approved by the Chinese government to foster tourism development, including a program to focus attention on historic places in both countries.
The program, called Red Tourism, is also intended to achieve socioeconomic benefits for communities close to those sites.
The visiting delegation referred to tourism plans on the island, such as preparations for the construction of a Chinese-Cuban hotel in Havana.
The meeting closed the official program of the Cuban minister's stay in that capital, where he met with representatives of travel agencies, tour operators, and specialized press, with an agenda that comprised affairs linked to tourism development and business prospects in Cuba.
