International Meeting on Iberian-American Heritage to Take Place in Cuba

The conference will open with a lecture on the Iberian-American cultural heritage by IBRAM’s President Dr. Jose do Nascimento

A scientific conference focused on the cultural heritage of Iberian- American nations will take place in this city of the eastern province of Granma, with the participation of national and international researchers.

Representatives from the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM), and Bachelors College and the Metropolitan Autonomous University of Mexico will take part of the event scheduled for February 4-6.

Lourdes Carbonell, director of the Cultural Heritage Center of Granma, said the conference will be attended as well by professors, museology experts, architects and other specialists from nearly all the Cuban provinces.

As part of the event’s program, a post-grade course on psychopedagogy of learning by Mexican professor Lucia Herrero, preceded by two colloquiums on paradigms of investigation and restoration with traditional systems and techniques.

The conference will open with a lecture on the Iberian-American cultural heritage by IBRAM’s President Dr. Jose do Nascimento, IBRAM, and scientific sessions about the legacy of pre-Colombian peoples, the museum sensitivity and restoration.

Other workshops will focus on the discussion of the relationship between patrimony with culture, educational systems, computer sciences, society and governmental policies.

Delegates will visit places with great environmental and historical value including the Desembarco del Granma National Park, located in the coastal municipality of Niquero. The park was declared a World Natural Heritage site in 1999.
