The film has an international cast, starring Brazilian Rodrigo Santoro, and Cubans Eslinda Nuñez, Jorge Molina and Osvaldo Doimeadios.
The story takes place in Havana in the late 1980s, when Cuba received hundreds of children from the then Soviet Union to be treated for radiation exposure resulting from the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The plot follows Malin (Santoro), a Russian literature professor at the University of Havana, who is reassigned as a translator of the Cuban doctors set to treat the children.
The film, produced in 2018, has been screened at major film festivals, where it has been recognized, for example, with the award for Best Director at the Shanghai International Film Festival, and nominations in the categories of Best Actor and Best First Film of the Ibero-American Phoenix Film Awards.
