Cuba won its fifth gold medal at the XVIII Pan American Games Lima-2019 on Monday through the canoeing pair composed by Mahivianet Borges and Katherin Nuevo in the C-2 at a distance of 500 meters.
The Cuban pair reached the finish line in 56 seconds and 661 hundredths of a minute, ahead of Chileans Karen Rocco and Maria Mailliard who arrived in 1:59:158, while for third place came the Canadians in Anne Lavoeiparent and Rowan Hardykavanagh with 2:02:216.

After this gold medal, Cuba ascends to the fifth seat by nations, displacing Colombia, with five gold, three silver and two bronze, behind the United States (10-9-7), Mexico (9-5-12), Brazil (6-4-7) and Argentina (6-2-4). (Taken from Prensa Latina)
