Cuban President Focused on Food Production in Camagüey

The priority of food production led the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, to the Industrial Fisheries Company of Santa Cruz del Sur (Episur), during his government visit to Camagüey.
The substitution of imports and the development of exportable items were key points in the stay in the southern territory that has diversified its production from seafood.

Results with certified quality and food safety in its 13 points of sales, and its two own brands (Marisur and Verdesolas) extended internationally, endorse Episur that concluded 2018 with the highest production in its history, harvest of 1,670 tons of seafood.

The course of the country’s presidency, which includes vice-presidents of the Councils of State and of Ministers and heads of the ministries, reached the Agricultural and Citrus Sola Company, with the presence of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex) , Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz.

‘We always have to think about adding value to the productions, it is important that organic items are promoted here, which are sold with a higher price in the market,’ he said according to Adelante’s web portal.

This day also had the exchange between students and professors of the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz with the vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, Roberto Morales, who considered the vital importance of ‘going more and more to science’ to the future and development of the economic and social model of Cuba.
