Ukrainian Children to Receive Medical Treatment in Cuba This Year

The news was announced during a lecture at the press center of the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency, with participation of Natacha Diaz Aguilera, charge d’affaires a.i at the Cuban embassy in Ukraine.Sergey Bogolyubov, leader of the ‘For Life’ Party in Kiev and Chairman of the International Charitable Foundation ‘For Life’, and Natalia Korolevska, legislator of the National Platform ‘For Life’, also attended the lecture.

Olena Nikolaenko, Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada for social policy, and Pablo Matsepa, President of the International Fund ‘The Land of Children’, also attended the meeting with the press.

Bogolyubov informed that a Ukrainian delegation from the ‘For Life’ Party recently visited Cuba, during which the first signing of a MoU with the Ministry of Public Health of the island was achieved to resume the treatment and rehabilitation of Ukrainian children in Cuba.

Those children are the sons of people whose parents were affected by radiation from the disaster occurred in the fourth bloc of the Vladimir I. Lenin nuclear power plant, located in Chernobyl, on April 26, 1986.

Diaz Aguilera also said that about 23,000 children have been treated in Cuba for more than 20 years, with the best results, as Commander Fidel Castro predicted on March 29, 1990, when he received in Cuba the first group of children.

She also stressed that this project had a crucial scientific impact and the achievements were possible, mainly because of the strength of the Cuban health system despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington almost 60 years ago. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
