Cubans living in the United Kingdom rejected Saturday the intentions of the US government to escalate its economic war against Cuba, by activating Title III of the Helms-Burton law.
We reject any attempt to wrest from the people of Cuba what the Revolution nationalized for the benefit of all, the emigres warned in a letter published on the organization’s website.

The statement condemns in particular President Donald Trump’s decision to allow US citizens from May 2 to sue Cuban and foreign companies that have invested in nationalized properties on the island after May 1959.

The extraterritorial nature of Title III violates international laws and the sovereignty of third countries, including that of its own allies, the statement recalls.

After calling on the government of President Trump to change its policy towards Cuba, Cubans resident in the United Kingdom urged Washington to pay attention to the international community that every year condemns the unilateral blockade suffered by the Caribbean nation for more than five decades.

The blockade has been the alternative to US military intervention in Cuba, a silent war which has left a gigantic human and financial cost, the statement continues. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
