Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez assured Wednesday that communication is an essential part of foreign policy, in a message on Twitter.

Communication is an essential part of foreign policy. Working with the national and foreign media, acting on social media and the Internet and fostering the image of Cuba abroad are among our priorities, he wrote in his account @BrunoRguezP.

On behalf of the national Foreign Ministry, Rodriguez received the recognition granted by the Union of Journalists of Cuba in order to highlight the work of the entity towards the national press.

MINREX gets awarded from the Union of Journalists of Cuba for its work towards the national press. A distinction that honors us and that reaffirms the commitment of revolutionary diplomacy, and of all, to offer truthful and timely information to our people, underlined in another tweet.

Every March 14th since 1992, Cuban journalists celebrate their day to remember the first issue of the newspaper Patria, the highest expression of the prolific journalistic work of the National Hero, Jose Marti, initiated with the publication of El Diablo Cojuelo and La Patria Libre, in 1869.
