At the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the qualities of Hugo Chávez and his eagerness for integration for the peoples of America, and in defense of their independence and self-determination were highlighted.

The contribution of this South American nation to the achievements in health and education in the region was also highlighted, as well as the demand of the underprivileged in the face of big capital.

Fernando González Llort, president of ICAP, pointed out that in Chávez the Latin American unity desires of Simón Bolívar and José Martí, the internationalism of Ernesto Che Guevara and the spirit of victory of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro were concretized.

The Hero of the Republic of Cuba denounced the campaign that is being carried out against Venezuela, threatened with a covert military intervention behind the humanitarian aid that has supposedly been wanted to arrive.

He reaffirmed Cuba’s solidarity and resolute and loyal support to the Bolivarian and Chavista people, and to its president Nicolás Maduro.

Vivian Alvarado, chargé d’affaires of the Venezuelan Embassy in Cuba, thanked the position of the Major of the Antilles and highlighted the ties of friendship existing between the two nations.

She expressed that Venezuela defends itself against foreign interference, led by Colombia and the United States, and called for vigilance in the face of neocolonial cravings, against the project sown by Chávez.

Olga Lidia Tapia Iglesias, member of the secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party, and Ana Teresita González, vice head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also participated in the emotional meeting. (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
