The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, visited on Thursday the Batabano municipality, in the western province of Mayabeque, one of those affected early this week by Hurricane Michael.
Accompanied by Cuba’s First Vice President, Salvador Valdes, and local authorities, the Head of State headed a meeting to follow up on measures to recover from the hydrometeorological phenomenon, which with heavy rains hit areas of western Cuba on Monday and Tuesday.

Diaz-Canel spoke with residents of Batabano, including fishermen who work in the coastal municipality, was interested in the living conditions of the population and visited the port terminal dedicated to the transportation of passengers and goods.

In his social media @DiazCanelB, the President wrote: ‘We are in #Batabano, a territory recovering from the effects of #Hurricane Michael; a place where we have much to do for a better present and future #PorCuba #SomosCuba’.

On Wednesday, the Cuban President toured areas of Pinar del Rio, the province hardest hit by Michael’s winds and rains. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
