Dr. Pierre Somse, Minister of Health and Population of the Central African Republic, praised the prestige of Cuba in this field and the willingness of its doctors to save lives anywhere in the world.
An example of this is the participation of a medical brigade in the campaign against Ebola in 2014 in West Africa, Somse said at a meeting in Bangui, capital of that African nation, with Cuban ambassador Marcelo Caballero.
The Central African minister talked about the need of his country to train doctors and added that his government intends to send students to Cuba, in addition to request a group of Cuban physicians to provide service to the population and advising their local colleagues.
Caballero, meanwhile, offered details on the main achievements of Cuban public health in recent years, which has significantly influenced the increase of life quality of its people.
The Central African Republic has an area of 622.980 square kilometers and a population of just over four and a half million people.
It is one of the poorest countries in the region and also faces a difficult health situation, the rate of infant mortality and malnutrition is high and the country is in need of urgent international humanitarian aid. (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
