Tropical storm Gordon formed in the Strait of Florida during this morning, with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and higher gusts, the Cuban Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) reported on Monday.

The central region of this system is located at 25.1 degrees North latitude and 80.7 degrees West longitude, about 30 kilometers west of Key Largo, in Florida.

According to the INSMET reports, its central pressure is 1009 hectoPascal and moves to the northwest west at a speed of 28 kilometers per hour.

According to the report, it is forecast that in the next 12 to 24 hours tropical storm Gordon will continue with similar course and speed of translation until reaching the warm waters of the southeast of the Gulf of Mexico, where it can gain more intensity.

Due to the rapid movement of this system and its extension to the center, the most important element for the Cuban territory is the evolution of the cloud and rainy areas that accompany this tropical cyclone, which will affect the western and central region of Cuba, and will be strong and intense in some locations, INSMET explains.

On the other hand, the entity reports that the tropical storm Florence remains with little change, heading west-northwest in the eastern Atlantic and so far does not pose a risk to the Caribbean. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
