Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez concluded his working visit to the province of Matanzas, yesterday July 12.

The days’ agenda included several sites of economic interest, including the Rayonitro fertilizer production facility and the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant.

He was also able to confirm progress on renovation works underway as part of plans for the city’s 325th anniversary.

Abel Prieto, minister of Culture, accompanied the President for a visit to the legendary Sauto Theater. He praised the work completed and reported that components of a central air conditioning system from an Italian company are expected to arrive mid-August.

Minister of Agriculture Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero reported that a feed plant is to be built in the area once occupied by the Cuba Libre sugar mill, in the municipality of Pedro Betancourt.

Also discussed with local leaders was the importance of strengthening support for teachers, essential to keeping educators in their positions, an issue which has yet to be resolved in the province which faces high turnover of staff in some schools. (Taken from en.granma.cu)
