The weather center in the Cuban province of Ciego de Avila will train specialists from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Perez, informed.
She stressed that the facility has conditions, new technology and a competent staff, so it can become an excellent convention unit in central Cuba.
It is an ideal place to hold events on meteorological forecast and climate change, and it can provide technical assistance, scientific technological and innovative services to sectors of the economy and society, the minister added.
She went on to say that there are well-trained specialists in Ciego de Avila, but the daily preparation and the study of languages is very important in order to have better knowledge of the advanced information that exists in the field of meteorological sciences.
The scientific institution was officially inaugurated on Friday, after the second stage of civil construction was completed. It will be an essential instrument for disaster risk management and the adaptation to climate change, based on sustainable development in the Caribbean. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
