Young guitar talents and prestigious teachers from Mexico, the United States, Honduras, Italy, Switzerland and Cuba will exchange here at the 4th Meeting of Identity Guitars, the organizers announced.
The event will take place in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, from January 24 to 27; and in Havana, from January 29 to February 4.

The program of the event includes concerts, lectures and master classes in which the participation of diverse students and professionals of the most different genres and styles of the guitar is expected, and related instruments such as the three, the lute, the cuatro and the charango.

As in previous editions, the meeting will be chaired by recognized musician Guido Lopez-Gavilan and will feature the artistic direction of the guitarists Eduardo and Galy Martin, who confirmed that the fourth edition will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the birth of Sergio Vitier.

Some of the venues planned for the concerts are the Casa del ALBA Cultural, the Basilica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asís, the theater hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts and the hall of Ruben Martinez Villena de la UNEAC (Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba).

According to Martin -guitarist and composer-, the event maintains the participatory style and the proposal to give space to all levels of the guitar and its manifestations, from the most academic and erudite to the most popular. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
