The Alianza Martiana coalition, which groups together various organizations of Cuban emigration in the US city of Miami, Florida, summoned yesterday a conference to discuss Washington’s new policy against the island.

According to the call, the event will be held on July 2 at the entity’s headquarters and participants will outline actions to continue supporting their native country.

It is necessary to continue the work in favor of Cuba, Andrés Gómez, national coordinator of the Brigade Antonio Maceo, a member of the group, told Prensa Latina.

With the change of policy announced by President Donald Trump in a grotesque act in Miami on June 16, the process aimed at normalizing relations between the two countries is violated, Gómez said.

He recalled that this initiative, promoted on December 17, 2014, by Cuban President Raúl Castro and his then US counterpart, Barack Obama, is backed by a powerful majority of both peoples.

On June 18, the Alianza Martiana rejected the White House’s stance towards Cuba and questioned the reasons that prompted the Republican president to make ‘such a crazy decision.’ (Taken from Prensa Latina)
